Renting an Exotic Car Under 25 in DC, Maryland & Virginia

Yes, you can rent an exotic car under 25 in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. At Capital Exotic the minimum age is 21. Renters between 21 and 24 can book any car in our fleet priced under $900 per day, which includes the Corvette, Audi R8, Porsche 718, BMW i8, BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG SL 53, Aston Martin Vantage, and Mercedes S63. If you are under 21, you cannot rent, but you can book any of those cars with a chauffeur.
The other requirements are the same at every age: a valid driver's license and a full-coverage personal auto policy that our team verifies by calling your insurer. That call is the step most young renters worry about, and it is the step we handle for you.
This guide covers the age rules, the exact cars and rates available to you, why insurers treat drivers under 25 differently, how to use a parent's policy, and the chauffeur route for prom and graduation.
The age rules at a glance
| Your age | Can you rent? | What you can book |
|---|---|---|
| 25 and over | Yes | Any of our 25+ vehicles, up to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan at $1,995 per day. |
| 21 to 24 | Yes | Any vehicle priced under $900 per day. Eight cars qualify today. |
| 18 to 20 | No self-drive | Any vehicle with a Capital Exotic chauffeur, from $149 per hour. |
| Under 18 | No self-drive | Chauffeured service, booked and paid by a parent or guardian. |
The $900 line is not arbitrary. It separates the sports and grand-touring cars that most personal policies will cover for a young driver from the Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and G-Class tier where insurers push back hardest on age. Our under-25 rental page has the current list if the fleet changes.
Cars you can rent at 21 to 24, with current rates
| Vehicle | Daily rate | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Chevrolet Corvette | $499 | Mid-engine V8, the most requested first exotic. |
| Audi R8 | $499 | V10 supercar sound with all-wheel-drive confidence. |
| Porsche 718 | $499 | Light, precise, the best driver's car on this list. |
| BMW i8 | $599 | Butterfly doors and the most photographed car in the fleet. |
| BMW M5 | $599 | Four doors, 600-plus horsepower, room for friends. |
| Mercedes S63 | $650 | Quiet luxury for a date night or a client dinner. |
| Mercedes-AMG SL 53 | $699 (was $799) | Convertible grand tourer, ideal for Skyline Drive. |
| Aston Martin Vantage | $700 | The one that turns heads outside the Kennedy Center. |
Every rental includes 100 miles per day. Rentals of three days or more get a lower daily rate. The refundable deposit runs $250 to $1,500 depending on the car, and it comes back after the return inspection. Cars at or above $900 per day, including the Maybach S600 at $900, the G63 at $999, the Huracán from $1,399, and the Urus at $1,550, open up at 25. Why insurers price drivers under 25 differently
Insurance is priced on claims data, and the data on young drivers is not flattering. Federal crash statistics consistently show drivers in their late teens and early twenties with crash rates per mile well above drivers in their thirties and forties. Insurers respond with higher base premiums for young drivers and, in many cases, stricter rules on what vehicles a young driver's policy will cover.
That is why the mainstream rental companies at Dulles and National either bar drivers under 21 entirely or add a daily young-renter surcharge under 25. Exotic operators face the same math with cars that cost ten times more to repair. Some refuse anyone under 25. We chose a middle path: 21 is the minimum, and the under-$900 rule keeps the cars matched to what a young driver's policy can realistically carry.
What this means for your policy
Three things tend to show up when we call an insurer about a 21 to 24 year old renter. First, the policy is often in a parent's name, which is fine if you are a listed driver. Second, liability limits are often set at the state minimum, and we will ask the agent to raise them for the rental dates. Third, some policies carry a vehicle-value cap that excludes the more expensive cars. The eight vehicles above clear most caps.
What "full coverage" means and how we verify it
Full coverage means your policy carries all three of these:
- Liability: pays for injuries and property damage you cause to others. Required by law in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
- Collision: pays to repair the car you are driving after a crash, regardless of fault, minus your deductible.
- Comprehensive: pays for theft, vandalism, hail, glass, and other non-collision damage.
Liability-only policies, which are common on a first car, do not qualify. Neither do most non-owner policies.
Once you text us your license and insurance card, our team calls your insurer. We confirm the policy is active, that collision and comprehensive extend to a rental vehicle, and what the limits are. If a limit needs to go up for the rental dates, insurers typically charge about $2 to $10 per day for the increase, and many do it for free. If the policy simply cannot cover the car, we offer supplemental coverage from $100 per day as a fallback, or we help you pick a car your policy will accept. Our insurance page lists exactly what to send.
Renting on a parent's policy: the additional-driver route
Most renters in this age group are not the named insured on a policy. That is fine. If a parent, guardian, or spouse holds a full-coverage policy, they can add you as an additional driver, and their policy can then cover the rental. The steps:
- Ask the policyholder to call their insurer and add you as a driver on the policy, or confirm you are already listed.
- Text us your license and the policyholder's insurance card.
- Have the policyholder available for a short call so the insurer will talk to us. Some insurers require the named insured's verbal consent before discussing coverage.
- We confirm limits and any exclusions, and request a temporary increase if needed.
Plan on starting this two or three business days before pickup. Adding a driver is usually same-day, but a limit increase can take a day to post.
Under 21: the chauffeur route for prom, graduation, and birthdays
If you are 18, 19, or 20 and want to arrive in a Rolls-Royce or a G63, book it chauffeured. Our chauffeur service starts at $149 per hour with a three-hour minimum and no security deposit, with the fleet ranging from $149 to $499 per hour. For a prom, three hours covers pickup, photos, and the drop-off at the venue. Parents like it because a professional is driving. Students like it because the car is the same car.
The prom car guide walks through timing and photo stops. Our experiences page covers birthdays, graduation dinners, and photoshoot packages, and the chauffeur service page has the full hourly range.
How to book, step by step
- Text (703) 673-2882 with the car, dates, and your age. Quotes usually come back within about two minutes. Phones are answered 24/7.
- Send your license and insurance card. If you are on a parent's policy, send theirs and let us know.
- We call your insurer and confirm coverage. Most renters are cleared the same day.
- Pay the deposit and rental. We take cards, cash, wire, Zelle, and Venmo. Affirm and Klarna financing is available if you want to split a multi-day rental into payments. We do not accept crypto.
- Pick up or get delivery. Our showroom at 14220 Sullyfield Circle, Unit L, Chantilly, VA 20151 is five minutes from Dulles and open 10 AM to 5 PM daily by appointment. Delivery is available within 50 miles, with the fee depending on the vehicle.
- Return on time and clean. Late returns carry a $250 fee and a dirty return carries a $150 cleaning fee. If you expect to exceed 100 miles per day, pre-purchase a mileage block, which is cheaper than paying overage.
One thing we do not do is test drives. Instead we set up showroom visits by appointment so you can see the car, sit in it, and go over the controls before your rental day.
